Breathe life into
learning through
living books

A private lending library serving East Tennessee

Public libraries offer what is
current and popular--
NOT what is good and beautiful.

Libraries are filled with the newest books, containing flashy images and silly, easy-to-read stories. These books undervalue children. Rich, beautiful books that nourish the soul and ignite the imagination have been cleared off public library shelves.

Give your children the gift of living books.

Books that feed the mind with living ideas

Our books contain vibrant, rich ideas. These ideas are like seeds—they take root in the mind of a child and grow into something beautiful.

“CLL was not just a defining part of our children’s education, but of their childhood and the shaping and honoring of who they are uniquely created to be. Incorporating living books into daily life keeps alive that innate sense of wonder that lives in a child’s heart—igniting the flame of curiosity and delight of their world. But the greatest part of the library was Robin, “our book lady”. Robin knew those books, and yet more importantly, she knew and cared about the children. She studied each one—their interests and their styles—and her love of helping each one leave with the perfect treasure was an integral part of the whole living book experience. Robin truly represented what it means that education is ‘for the children’s sake’ and she exemplified that to both parent and child through her loving care at CLL.”

Why pay for Children's Legacy Library when the public library is free?

Our financial investments reveal our personal values. Your children are worth the investment in the finest children's literature. And public libraries do not contain all that is good and noble in literature. At Children's Legacy Library, your children can roam the shelves and immerse themselves in a world of books while you have the peace of mind knowing that every book they lay their hands on is a treasured volume full of beautiful ideas and values. For the cost of taking your family out to eat a single meal, you can feed your children's hungry hearts and minds with living books for a full year.

Can't I just sort through public library books to find the good ones?

Public libraries can be great resources. But public libraries offer what is current and popular—not what is good, noble, and beautiful. Further, most of the books offered in our library are out-of-print, have been discarded from public library shelves, and thus are extremely rare. Some of our books are worth hundreds of dollars. These are books you simply cannot find in your local public library.
